Leonidas
Leonidas

Leonidas' family got rid of him when their other large dog attacked their small dog. Leonidas had nothing to do with it, but they didn't want him anymore. He was taken in by foster parents who gave him love, good nutrition, and treatment for his dry itchy skin.

When his new family saw Leonidas on the CARE website, they knew he was the one. They had just lost their beloved Rottie who they rescued in Germany 7 years ago. The 5 year old little girl is scared of dogs, even a teacup Chihuahua - all except for her Rottie. When she saw Leonidas on our website, she told her mom that he was the one she wanted to be their dog. When they first met, she wasn't too sure about him. But, once he was home, she was cuddling with him in no time. It's no wonder. Leonidas is a rare gem. He loves everyone, people, other dogs, even tiny kittens. This gentle giant has found his forever home!

Charmaine
Charmaine

MeeMee & Brandon - BFFs

Charmaine and her littermates came to us very sick kittens. They were all just babies loaded down with parasites. Charmaine was especially shy and scared. With TLC in foster care, she got healthy and began to come out of her shell. Now, she has a new name - "MeeMee", a new outlook on life, and a home of her own with her best friend, 6yo Brandon!

It was love at first sight for these two; a truly happy ending!

MeeMee's littermates have also been adopted into loving forever homes.

Izzy
Izzy

Layla's new dad writes:

I thought I would send you a quick update on Izzy (she goes by Layla now). I couldn't imagine a better puppy. Layla is doing great! She's a hyper puppy but with the exception of maybe 5 days she's gone on a 30 minute to an hour walk every day since I got her. I joke around and say that she has 2 modes Crazy Hyper and Sleepy Sweet Mode. She was housebroken within the first month. She took to crate training real well and only barked in her crate the first week. Training her has gone well she will sit, lie down, shake and roll over. Teaching her stay has been tough but she listens most of the time. When I first got her she was pretty shy but now she is very affectionate and loves everybody. She is always wanting attention!

Layla and her littermates were found on the side of a road with a cooler of food when they were young pups. Two of the litter were DNA-tested, and both came back with German Shepherd Dog and Labrador Retriever in their mix.

Allie (CL)
Allie (CL)

Caileigh (previously known as Allie) spent the first 2 years of her life on a chain. Most dogs who are chained like this are severely damaged and take years to rehabilitate. Not Caileigh! She is a testament to the resiliency of dogs and their ability to overcome adversity. Caileigh left that life behind her and hasn't looked back! She is now living in New Hampshire with a doggie and kitty playmate. Unlike her days of imprisonment on a chain, Caileigh now enjoys free romps in the snow with her canine friend Murphy!

Keiko
Keiko

Keiko is the first official CARE adoption of 2009!

Keiko's new mom had this to say.
I just wanted to let you know of the awesome adoption experience that we have had with Alicia DeBoe. She was attentive and compassionate throughout the entire process. My husband Clay and I love Keiko and he is already a part of our family. I have attached some pictures that we took today - the day of the "adoption finalization". We picked Keiko up in Columbia and were the most excited parents you have ever seen! He is fitting in perfectly and we are SO in love with him already!! We just cannot speak highly enough of Alicia! I feel that God certainly had His hand on this! I inquired of Alicia about another dog and explained what we were looking for. She told me that that dog would not be a fit for us. But that she had a Papillon and to go on line and look at him. She had just received the info on him and just posted it on line. I saw Keiko and fell in love immediately! We feel that it was just meant to be! Again, we are thoroughly thrilled with Alicia! She has such a kind heart for animals and it certainly shows. We are just so blessed that we had the opportunity to have this experience with her. Your organization, the pets, and the adoptive parents are so fortunate to have Alicia!

Okay, now you know how happy we are! Just wanted to share with you! Thank you again Tara for "CARE"! And thank you Alicia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of love,

Clay & Tee Philemon
