You'd be lucky to have me


Beechnut has been waiting for a forever home for over a year. He's seen other foster dogs come and go while he still waits. Maybe it's because he is missing one eye. When he came to us, he had been hit by a car and shot in the face twice. Once you meet him, you'll forget all about that because he doesn't let it affect his life in any way. Beech only wants someone to love him. In return, he will be the most devoted pet you've ever had. He is also a fantastic watch dog! He's housetrained and crate trained and has excellent house manners. He sits for his food and will wait until you tell him it's ok to eat. He also sits patiently for treats and to have his leash and collar put on him. Then, he'll sit by the door and wait for you to take him out. He loves to lounge on the couch or in the recliner, but he will give up his spot if given the "off" command. Beechnut is a sweet, cuddly dog. He likes to lay beside you on the couch with his head in your lap. He lives with 3-4 other dogs in his foster home and gets along great with them all. He's used to a new dog moving in for a while and then moving out again. He loves to play with the 10 pound terrier! He is also good with children. He is NOT good with cats. Beechnut requires no special care for his eye. He is just like any other dog - just with a little more "character".

We had Beechnut DNA tested with a free test from dog-dna.com. Beech's DNA test revealed that he is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, St. Bernard, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Boxer, and Unknown Terrier (probably Jack Russell) mix. He exhibits many traits of the Jack Russell Terrier and the Boxer. Both breeds use their paws in a cat-like manner, as Beechnut does. Very cute to watch. :)

All dogs receive a distemper/parvo vaccine(s), kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, monthly heartworm prevention, and are spayed/neutered through CARE.
